Good golly, the 3rd edition - who would have thought. The ABD came about after I published my prototype based on Queensland clubs, after sending copies to every bowls club across the country it was decided to expand to a National Directory. This expansion afforded me the opportunity to turn that initial book into the calendar of events for travelling bowlers of today. Much has been achieved in this short space of time, you can check out the Local, State, National & International bowls information, Features, Letters to the Editor and much more all in this new edition.
Special mention and congratulations to North Darwin Bowls Club (story inside) on reopening the club after approx. 15 years. These guys in the top end sure know how to put on a great day of bowls.
Also inside this issue you will find a “special” 2 page feature on the importance of raising awareness of cancer and looking after your health (to our bowls community). This is something that is very close to my heart and would love to hear from you if you wish to participate in the Cancer Charity Bowls Days, I will be supporting in 2010.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed and I look forward to receiving much more info, stories & photos now that I have my new web site up and running www.australianbowlsdirectory.com.au.
Take special note of the feature on the US Lawn Bowls Open in October 2010, I would love to take a big group to the states for this event. Remember, you don't have to be a top bowler to join us for a game and a fun time… If you've seen me bowl you know what I'm talking about. Just think about it!!
Always have a full fuel tank, keep smiling and I will catch you down the track for a game.
